My Telescopes

The main telescope is a Meade LX200 Ritchey–Chrétien attached to the Meade Autostar II Alt/Az mount. The focal length is 2500mm  and the primary mirror has a diameter of 254mm. [focal ratio f10]. This is used for imaging deep space objects.

The picture show the complete rig mounted on a simple tricycle base which enables me to roll out the scope with relative ease. Once the wheels are locked it is a very stable and vibration free platform which is absolutely nessassary for astroimaging.

The secondary telescope mounted on top of the LX200 is an Orion EON72 refractor. the focal length is 430mm with an objective lens of 72mm in diameter [focal ratio f6]. This is used for wide field imaging. The Meade electronic focuser is attached which allows fine focusing when a camera is attached.

The object centering scope, which sits at LH side of the side of the EON72, is an Orion Guide Scope with an objective lens of 50mm diameter to which is attached either a 20mm illuminated centering eyepiece or a guide camera.

There is a “red dot” finder mounted at the RH side of the EON 72 to assist with eyeball alignment
